This is my newly acquired Rolex Datejust reference 1601 from 1972 (early 3M serial) with the rare light grey matte dial with white text, which has gained the nickname of “ghost dial” due to the way the white text disappears when viewed from certain angles, as can be seen in .The satin grey pie-pan "ghost" dial is exceptionally well preserved, showing no blemishes or age marks. The dial is a pale grey coloration that blends with the white text at certain angles which creates the sought-after ghost effect.Launched in the 1960s, this vintage Rolex watch features a traditional 36mm case, a date display at 3 o'clock, and an assortment of dial and bracelet styles. Its deep heritage and lasting charm make the Datejust 1601 a great choice for watch lovers and collectors.
